In the 14th edition after changing the format into the Copa America, Argentina as the host occupies a Group A along with Bolivia, Colombia and Costa Rica. Champion in the two previous editions, Brazil are in Group B, together with Paraguay, Venezuela and Ecuador. While Group C will be filled in Chile, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay.
Given the strength of our teams took part, Argentina and Brazil seem to have the greatest chance to come out as champions, although other teams such as Uruguay, Paraguay and Mexico also could not be ruled out. Argentina and Uruguay are known to collectors championship team ever with 14 trophies. While Brazil is in second place with eight championship titles, including the last two editions.
For the event this time, Argentina will perform before the public eager to end title drought the last time they won in 1993 or 18 years ago. In addition, one of its flagship star, Lionel Messi was determined to answer criticism of many who taste it can only be accomplished at the club, but could not do anything for his country."My biggest dream now is to win the Copa America. We know how meaningful (Copa America) for me and the public certainly Argentina. This is my main target with all the other great players in the squad (Argentina), "Messi said some time ago.
Besides Messi, Argentina coach Sergio Batista brought a number of other top players in the squad like Real Madrid duo Gonzalo Higuain & Angel Di Maria, Diego Milito (Inter Milan), Sergio 'Kun' Aguero (Atletico Madrid), Javier Pastore (Palermo) and Manchester City Carlos Tevez who had previously discarded.
With the material that the players can be quite good, then, not impossible for the Los Albiceleste to lift the championship trophy, as well as consecrate ourselves as a team with a collection of the most Copa titles, namely the 15 championship titles.
If at this event brings Argentina's best players, even down to the squad for Brazil was still a relatively 'green'. Under the command of coach Mano Menezes, Selecao squad will rely on the talents of his youth as a trio of AC Milan Thiago Silva, Alexandre Pato and Robinho, Santos and the young star that was rising, Neymar.
Although no names of the top range, Kaka or Ronaldinho, but Menezes remains confident his team can compete for the title three (hat trick) having previously appeared as the champion in 2004 and 2007.
