LONDON - Luka Modric heavily rumored to be leaving Tottenham Hotspur through the transfer market this summer. But according to Britain's legendary Gary Lineker, the Spurs had to defend the Croatian international midfielder.
It was not lost from memory, when the North London squad off Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United three years ago. Now, the Lilywhites just stuck with their policy not to sell their best players.
The rules are fully supported by club president Daniel Levy, who is reluctant to sell any players in the transfer market this summer. Lineker also agree with the policy of Harry Redknapp made the team.
"This is a moment of test for Tottenham. One moment, you become a club that lost the best players, it will be chaotic and difficult to continue to compete first return to the Champions League, "said Lineker.
"If you lose a player like Modric, he will be difficult to replace. For me, Tottenham are pioneering into one big club. If their performance went down, then they certainly last a long time in that position, "he explained.
"But according to my estimation, he (Modric) will go. Currently, all decisions depend on it. The players have full powers. If they wanted to leave, then they will be quite confused to make it happen, "said Lineker, quoted from Sportinglife, Friday (17/06/2011).
